A love letter
Ridge, wood, lane.
From Chiddingfold you can walk up to Sandhill and look south across the Weald toward the South Downs. To the east lies Hambledon; to the west, Shillinglee — wooded parkland, and a reliable place to find a buzzard on a thermal.
This is a landscape of hedgerows and hollow lanes, of yew and beech and bluebell woods. It is a well-walked corner of England, and rightly so.
